The Election Commission of India will announce the schedule for the upcoming assembly elections in the five states of Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana on Monday. The Election Commission has called a press conference today at 12 noon and informed that the polling dates, number of phases and dates for submission and withdrawal of nomination papers will be announced.
The term of legislative assemblies in these five states will end between December 2023 and January 2024. The ECI usually publishes the Election Schedule six to eight weeks before the end of the legislative session. The upcoming assembly elections will be a major test for all major political parties, including the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the main opposition Congress and regional parties.
