Bengaluru: A woman married to her lover committed suicide by setting herself on fire when her family members objected to her love, which took place in the apartment of Doddagubbi residence in Bengaluru. Soumini Das (20), Abil Abraham (29) are lovers who committed suicide. On seeing the fire in the flat, the residents of the apartment informed the fire brigade and the police.
The police rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Meanwhile, Soumini was caught in the fire and breathed her last. Abraham was admitted to Victoria Hospital with partial burns. But the authorities said that Abraham died as the treatment did not work.
Deceased Soumini Das hailed from West Bengal and was studying 2nd year nursing in a private college near Karimamma Agrahara. She was married two years ago. Soumini was introduced to Kerala-based Abraham who ran a nurse service agency a few months ago. Soumini used to work at Abraham Agency during holidays and spare time. Soumini introduced Abraham to her husband 3 months ago. As days passed, their acquaintance turned into love.
A few days ago, Soumini went to Kolkata. After this she came to Bangalore. Then both of them rented a flat for 14 days. Later Soumini told her husband about love. It is said that there was a fight between the two regarding this matter. Both Soumini and Abraham have decided to die for this. Both committed suicide by pouring petrol in the rented apartment on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place in Kottanur police station.
