Former Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommayi has said that a Cauvery rescue yatra will be carried out in the taluks of the Cauvery basin to protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu by the state government. Speaking at a press conference after holding a meeting with party leaders from Cauvery non-kola districts, including former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, he accused the government of failure on the Cauvery issue.
Cauvery water management was supposed to be done in the month of June itself. We have not provided even 30% water to our farmers. Tamil Nadu is growing second crop. The Government did not properly plead before the CWRC, CWMA. The government has sacrificed the interest of the state and watered the second crop of Tamil Nadu. The Supreme Court was not properly convinced about this. We have a problem with water. The state government is acting defensively. This government has not protected the water rights of the state. He lashed out that this government does not have the commitment and ability to protect water rights.
